Halloween Happenings.

{Cornbellys October 2009}

October is usually on of our favorite and busiest months. There is something about this time of year. And here in Utah if you have kids are a million things you can do during the Halloween month. Last year, as I previously stated, we overkilled. So, this year we just got done what we could and had a great time.
Here are some of the things I have not already documented.

Our Couples Halloween Dinner Party.
Like last year, we invited over a couple of couples to do a costumes required fondue dinner. These are the 2 cute couples we joined us
The Shergills and the Brufords. Eric and I also dressed up, I was batgirl and he was my sidekick Robin. Why no pics??? Well, cuz when you spend the whole day cleaning, setting up and child caring and leave you self 5 seconds to get ready, the pics are a little rough looking. So, I spared you. And us.

Like last year, we did stations of fondue, started in the kitchen for the appetizer cheese course then moved to the dining room for the main course then the fondue fountain for dessert was set up on the island. It was all so yummy!

Here is a picture of Ady's dance class all dressed up in their Halloween costumes for this weeks class. They are all so cute. Ady really wanted to wear her costume that we took to Disneyland instead of her witch costume she picked out for Halloween because she loves the huge tutu.

Then on Friday, Eric, Max and I attended Ady's school Hallowenn program. She was darling and sang and danced so well.

We stayed after for more games and carmel apples with her class.
Then we headed straight over for trick or treating at Eric's office. The kids got so many treats, I don't think they even need to go trick or treating tonight (of course we will) but they don't NEED anymore candy.
I am sure the kids are going to be sad, all the Halloween stuff is about to end. Its been so much fun.

the only thing we forgot to document and I wish I would have were all the little hallowen favors and treats the kids and I made. I think the only one I got a pic of was the ones from the Fondue Night, but the kids and I stuffed and tied cute backs with Halloween stickers for Eric to hand out to the kids at the office. we also made several different sweets and treats for friends and trick or treaters. All turned out really cute.

maui-sitters

At Eric's office his employees work hard all year to try and meet a certain "sales quota" to be able to attend "President Club" a trip Eric takes the top producers on. Well, we already have this trip scheduled and planning underway for the 2010 Presidents Club which will take place in Maui, Hawaii.
And mostly only adults attend President's Club only occasionally an infant who still needs to be with mom.
A few of the mothers whose husbands will be attending President's Club this year with us, are having a hard time finding babysitters for the 5 days. Like college age girls or couples to come stay in their homes and run the household while they are gone. So, I told them I would try and get word out to see if any of my bazillions of Smoot family or friends know or are interested in a 5 day babysitting job and earning some good money. If you are leave me a comment or email me at hailey (at) thekandells (dot) com.
Thanks!

Boo.

When I titled this post "boo", it was an un-Halloween related boo. Not, like "boo, it's almost Halloween" or "boo look at my kids pumpkins they picked out"
Instead my "boo" was to show how sad I am that our poor fall pumpkins have snow on them since yesterday, and that when I took this photo on my front porch I could see my breath. We are not ready for this kind of cold yet.
Boo!

But, here are some happier pumpkins our little artist Ady drew at school today, they are 3 little "punkins" sitting on a fence.

our bling baby.

Last Saturday, Ady had her long awaited dental work done. In August I took both kids for their yearly dental check up. Max: no cavaties, no problem! Ady: 9 cavaties...... 9!?!?! Wait! Dont they both get their teeth brushed the same and basically eat the same things also? Yes.
We have decided Ady has my teeth or the "Smoot acidic saliva curse" and Max is lucky and perfect like Eric, no braces, no problems just white straight healthy strong teeth, always.
Yeah, I'm jealous.
Anyway since so much work had to be done they recommended doing it in the surgical office, where and anesthesiologist puts them under a general anesthetic for 2 hours to do all the work opposed to 5 visits of traumatic shots, and drilling. We agreed and scheduled Ady's work to be done while they put her out.
Long story short, she ended up being out for more like 3 hours because some of the cavities were more deep and some of the teeth cant handle too much drilling.
All in all we left after
7 cavaties were drilled
4 crowns were seated
and 4 baby root canals were performed.
Poor babe.

Saturday she took it easy the rest of the day and has minimal swelling because of the steriod they gave her and not much pain either (so jealous, I am always sore for at least a week after crowns/root canals) but I was so glad for her, I know how horrible teeth work can be.

So, right after the appointment we couldn't see the crowns since her mouth was all swollen, but once we did, I was actually kind of mad. When we first thought she was only having cavities we paid an upgrade fee to use white fillings instead of silver so her mouth would still look all white, well I for sure wouldn't have done that if I would have know 4 huge silver crowns were gonna be put over 4 entire teeth. That was a waste.
Anyway, I was a little afraid Ady would not like her new silver teeth, boy was I wrong! As soon as Eric showed her, her entire face lit up and she said " it's like pirate teeth"
oh. my. gosh. It is like pirate teeth.
Oh well , at least she is thrilled.

{Look at that new proud smile.}
Oh and by the way our new plan of action with the dentist so that this fate does not befall Adyson again, is to go in every 12 weeks for a flouride coating of her teeth and thorough cleaning so nothing has a chance to progress too far.

Spooktacular Fun at Our Haunted Home.

Monday night we had a little Costume party for FHE with some our neighbors and friends we have made since moving to northern Utah County. It was a pretty fun night. Especially for the dozens of kids who were running wild around our home all night.

Our family theme costumes with year were from The Little Mermaid
Eric was Kind Tritan, I was Ursula the Sea Witch, Ady was of course Ariel, and Max was Ariel's Handsome Prince Eric.

True to our roles as enemies of the Sea, I didn't see Eric most of the night. Playing host and hostess rarely allows us hang out time.

Our nieghbors and friends all had such awesome costumes, I wish I had pics of everyone!
Here is some of the fun, as well as Ady carrying around the party invitation the whole night.

"Trick or Treat, your so sweet, here's a treat for you to eat" bags with a yummy candy station in the entry. As well, as delicious Dippidee cupcakes and sugar cookies.

See these little hot dogs, I wrapped as mummies for the younger kids, well I forgot about them in the oven until an hour or so into the party so they got charred. Oh well. It was a nice thought.

We went with the easy menu of Soups, pumpkin bread bowls and salads. Perfect fall meal.

and check out the orange chocolate fountain... well actually it was a bit more peachy orange than real orange. But good effort chocolate fountain guy!

check out some of our cute party people and their awesome costumes!

This is the cute Tornow family who we love. Jen made the BEST soup of the party, a blackened corn chowder than was GONE before I even tried it but Eric raved about it.

We had so much fun and want to thank everyone who came and helped! You guys are all awesome.

Oh and a separate but funny story, our little Maxwell, was camped out in front of the chocolate fountain for at least 1/2 the night, just chowing on chocolate dipped strawberries then when I was rocking him before bed, just as eric predicted he threw up everything... all over me, my costume, in my hair, down my dress, and all over his dream rocker.
Scroll down to see the mess. It as much worse than the picture makes it look.
