Bunch Ball {socccer}

So last night when I was loading up a bag of soccer balls and game treats in my car, I was thinking "it's official, I am now a soccer mom".
Adyson has started playing rec soccer this Spring for the first time and last night was her first game. Ady and her best friend Cecily Tornow are on the same team because we convinced Eric and Cecily's dad Derrick to be coaches. Which at this age means you are also the game refs. Lots of work with 4-5 year olds who did the following last night
- continued chasing after the ball keeping in play off the field and onto another field
- scored on their own goalie
-occasionally wandered off the field
The funniest part of soccer this age is there is no point in assigning positions because all it is right now is bunch ball, the bunch of girls run kicking after the ball back and forth all over the field all night.
But at least they are out there playing and having fun.

{coach Eric and Derrick leading the girls in a team cheer}

for the first 2 minutes of the game, Ady did this... {see her in the right of the picture below} she stood there with a friend away from the action watching the girls. after a few minutes she decided she could still run around with the group without actually having to touch the ball so she did.

Max was Ady's #1 fan, he actually really really wants to play but sadly for him, he's got another year or so before he is old enough. Practices are the only time he gets to participate.

Ady got braver as the game went on an actually kicked the ball a couple times, the first time it just rolled right into her legs the second was on purpose.

Another fun part of the game was that the team we played was coached by a neighbor, so here are our neighborhood girls with their dad's (the coaches) after the game. 2 green team girls and 2 blue teams girls. But the only competitive ones are the dads.
Anyway, i was so proud of Ady last night for playing and trying and so glad Eric is such a good dad and is willing to coach cuz its obviously going to be a lot of work.

Pizza Sunday

A few weeks ago, our neighbors (and good friends) the Tornows invited us over for make your own pizza night. We couldn't make it cuz we had family plans that night but on our way home that night Eric stopped in to sample the leftovers. Ever since then we have been wanting to do it ourselves. So, yesterday since Eric's mom was in town for one quick day before heading home to Ohio. We decided to do it.
Saturday Eric and I went up to Tony Caputo's Market in SLC. (this awesome little Italian market) and stocked up on all the fresh ingredients we would need. Italian Pepperoni, procuitto, buffalo mozzarella, arugula, fresh basil, parmesan cheese, roasted garlic, sundried tomatoes and roasted garlic and pesto.

Then Sunday after church, Eric, me, the kids, Eric's mom and Bandele all made all sorts of personal pizzas. Our kids loved it, and so did we.

(Some of our creations.)

So if you are trying to come up with a fun dinner idea for company coming over or just for FHE, totally do this. We are going to do it again when it warms up a little and we can do the pizzas on the grill.

The "Max" Party

Do you know my youngest is now a 3 year old? I cannot believe it! Where has the time gone, I figured I be preppin for baby number 4 at this point not still anxiously awaiting baby #3. But I really cannot believe how old Max is. Just a second ago he was this little snuggling thing who wanted to nurse 24/7. And now he's big (almost his sisters size) and my best little buddy.
On March 31st, Maxwell's official birthday we celebrated him with a "Max's favorite things Party". Kind of an odd theme? Well it came about because in January when I asked him what kind of party he wanted, guess what he said "Um, I just want a car, airplane, clown, circus, bouncy ball, madagascar party"
Oh is that all?? So I decided to put all the things Max loves into one little shindig and make Max our theme. The only thing I failed to deliver on was the Madagascar part, thankfully he didn't notice.

{the party}

Okay how fun is all the mini stuff Dippidee made me for light sweet snacking, bite sized sugar cookies, oreos and sacrament cup sized cupcakes so the kids could try it all. We also had regular sized treats for those who could handle massive amounts of sugar.

Fun cookie favors, in some of Max's favorite items, airplanes, cars, and big "m" cookies with Maxwell picture stickers Ashlee Raubach helped me with.

Also made these take home bags with more of Max's favorite treats, bouncy balls and dollar store toy cars and airplanes.

The party hats I made turned out a little tight and a touch flimsy but I loved having Max's cute face on all the stuff. I love all his face stickers.

To fulfill the clown/circus part of Max's party, Button the clown came for our favorite kids party tradition, face painting, and balloon tricks and animals. She does amazing work. It was pretty much completely nuts, I think we had 22 kids all 5 years old and under running, screaming, eating and jumping all around. My mom always says "if you want to be the house your kids friends hang out at, you need to close your eyes and open your fridge" So thats what we did, we made tons of food and pretended we didn't see the kids running around our living room with half melted cupcakes. It's always worth the mess.

These popcorn bags I made and filled might have been the biggest waste of time ever, we had far too many snacks and I ended up throwing almost all of these out. Cute idea but total waste.

{more partyin'}

After dinner and the clown show downstairs, we moved upstairs for cake and cupcakes and to sing to Max.
Some of the kids blew out his candles before he did but overall he was completely pumped for all of it.

Max was especially lucky to have so many friends and family here t celebrate with us. Both grandmas, some aunts and uncles, cousins and a ton of friends. What a lucky kid. And what great friends and family we have.

And last but not least was Max's gift from Me and Eric. He got a John Deere Gator (like Grandpa Kandell's) that he has already mastered flying around the backyard in and even some impressive reverse and 3 point turn skills around the yard obstacles.
Max, we love you so much.
Happy Birthday Sweetheart!
