Wyoming for the 24th

We spent another weekend in Wyoming up at my parents cabin for the 24th. We rode 4 wheelers, and fished, and cooked, and bonefired, and watched movies and relaxed in nature all weekend long. It was, as always great family time.
My kids loved every moment of being doted on by my siblings and parents and running around getting filthy as much as they could.

{my kids with my little sister Christa and Breanna and their little girlsfriends they brought}

These last 2 weeks have been insanely busy, the week I had my sister in laws shower {previous post} I also hosted an activity days recognition night Ice Cream social for 60 in our backyard. Then I had the shower, then the next day a huge get together and swim party with Erics family here all day. Then the following week we had...
A Neighborhood BBQ/Pool Party at our house
The the following day Maxwell had surgery, getting his lymph nodes drained and tubes in his ears
A boating excursion up to Deer Creek with some dear friends who are moving
The the next night a birthday party for Eric's mom who was in town at our house
A farewell girls dessert night the next evening for Linda. :(
Then a day later we left for the cabin trip. I want to try and post about all those fun things but things keep getting more busy as we try to fit so much into one little summer, so who knows.
Anyway we hope you are all enjoying your summer as much as we are.
Sheesh, I am exhausted though.

Butterflies and Baby Shower

Last Night a hosted a butterfly/garden themed baby shower for my sister in law and Eric'c younger sister Lisa. Lisa has 2 cute little boys, Easton {6 months older than Ady} and Zach {3 weeks older than Max} but now she is finally getting herself a little girl, due this September. It was a great night. We had a sit down dinner on my upstairs balcony with everyone because the guest list wasn't enormous it made it much easier to have a nice dinner instead of an open house/ buffet. I really liked being able to sit around and talk while we ate.

Flowers purchased at and potted by Cactus and Tropical (yes, those hydrangeas are REAL), Cupcakes by Dippidee, dinner made by me, Eric and Eric's mother Sue. Thanks for your help Eric and Sue!  And favors and shower decor by -- yours truly, Hailey Kandell.

The Dinner Menu
Chicken, steak and veggie asian ginger peanut kabobs grilled table side
asian cabbage salad with homemade dressing
Grilled artisan breads with olive oil and balsamic drizzle, topped with basil from my garden.
Berry fool with layers fruit in champagne flutes

After a lovely dinner outside, we went inside {where it was cooler} for gifts.
Lisa got some really cute girly stuff.

Lisa, the guest of honor, her mom and me

Our cousin Mariah even flew in from Ohio for the shower.
Here's a little family pic.. we were just missing Cat.
Thank you everyone so much for coming and making it a really special night for Lisa. We can't wait to meet our new little niece. Love ya Lisa!

Santa Monica

Last weekend, I took a little girls trip with some of my girlfriends to Santa Monica, California. Being busy mothers (me, Chelly and Amy) of and busy student/full time working woman (Sarah) our main goal was to do a little relaxing.

We had so much fun, chatting, and laughing and doing whatever we felt like whenever we felt like doing it. Thanks girls for the fun, fun weekend. Same time, new place.. next year??

Friday night dinner at Sushi Roku in Santa Monica

Followed by rides, ice cream, hula hooping (Chels) at the carnival on the Santa Monica Pier

Chels said the ferris wheel felt romantic so I planted a big smooch on her

We made plenty of time for laying out with pina coladas and our books/magazines/i-pods

Saturday night we went to dinner at Ketchup in West Hollywood, hoping to see someone famous... we didn't.

While all on the trip we also did a bit of shopping on Rodeo in Beverly Hills and 3rd street Promonade in Santa Monica

Our final objective for the trip was to find the best cupcakes L.A. had to offer, we tried
Vanilla Bake Shop (very good but super rude sales girl)

Yummy Cupcakes (not so yummy we all felt so sick)

And then Sprinkles.. sounds obvious but we liked Sprinkles the best
